Quests

here are three type of quests in Aion: ordinary quests, campaign quests and Work Orders. Ordinary quests require the player to complete a task to receive a reward. Campaign quests are focused on story, and are crucial for player progression. Work Orders are used to increase skill in a chosen profession. Some quests are repeatable. Some quests especially campaign quests, cannot be shared or abandoned.
You will receive your wings at Level 10 when you ascend to a Daeva and can begin flying.

There are many different aspects to flight in Aion, which plays a vital role in Travel, Combat, Quests, and Crafting. Your Flight Meter is located at the bottom of your screen to the left of your Mini-Map and will give you all of the information you need to know about controls and limitations.

At first you will only be able to fly in certain areas, called flight zones. Your ability to fly will be indicated by your Flight Meter, which will light up when you enter a flight zone. Flight is limited to 60 seconds, but can be increased with various armor, titles, and other items in-game.

You can begin flying by either using the Page Up button or clicking on your Flight Meter. For information on controls, time remaining, and the cool off period; hover over the Flight Meter for the
tool-tip box

Handling

After pressing Page Up to begin flying, you can use the R and F keys to ascend and descend. Although, once off the ground, movement can be governed in the same manner that it is on the ground, by using the W,A,S,D keys and by pointing your mouse while right-clicking.

Flight Commands
ShortcutDescription
Page UpOpen wings and rise off the ground
Page DownFold wings and land
RRise vertically
FDescend vertically
ScrLk (Scroll Lock)Locks your altitude
Space BarWhen in flight, the Space Bar toggles between Gliding and Flying. Not in flight, it can be used to open your wings and glide down a hill. Beware; if you start out by Gliding, pressing the Space Bar again will retract your wings.
W,A,S,DOnce in the air, you can use the W,A,S,D keys for movement as you would on the ground when walking or running.
MouseOnce in the air, the Mouse also functions as it did on the ground. While using the W,A,S,D keys, you can right-click and point the mouse in the direction you would like to go. Turning, ascent, and descent can be controlled using a combination of W,A,S,D and the mouse.

After you are in the air and reveling in your new abilities, you will need to pay close attention to the flight gauge displayed above your head. The border of the Flight Meter also serves as a gauge and lets you know how much flight time you have left. The green bars will start to count down and flash red when your flight time is expiring. You will also get an on-screen warning and one in your chat window, just to make sure you don’t miss the clues that it is time to land.
If time runs out before you touch ground, you will begin to fall and can suffer damage or even death upon impact. When flying, your Mini-Map will display either blue or red wings, depending on your height.

Blue wings mean you are at a safe height although you may suffer some damage if you fall. Red signals that you have reached a height that will result in certain death should you fall.

Flight is restricted to flight zones, although you can Glide as soon as you ascend and get your wings. The first available flight zones are: Verteron for Elyos and Altgard for Asmodian.

Gliding

The ability to Glide is governed by momentum, so the higher you are, the further you will be able to go. Gliding is a gradual descent and you cannot rise manually as you would with Flight, however you may experience updrafts that will take you higher and increase your flight distance.
Once you are in the air, press your Space Bar once to open your wings and begin Gliding and press it again to close them. Speed is controlled by leaning forward (W) or back (S). The mouse can be used to control your direction, the same as flight. Experiment with the different movement keys while in the air to find out what works best for you.

The flight gauge above your head will be yellow when Gliding, opposed to green as it is with Flight. Keep an eye on your Flight Meter, as Gliding is governed by the same timer and cool off period as Flight.

Improving Flight

Like any new skill you are learning, flight will take time to perfect; and you can probably count on taking a few falls before you have mastered it.

There are numerous ways to enhance different attributes of flight, such as speed and duration. While you only start out with 60 seconds of flight, in time you will be able to extend that to several minutes with armor, accessories, and possibly even a new set of Wing Feathers. Although, most of these items are not easy to come by and when found, can be rather pricey.

At level 10 and then again starting at level 25, you will start to get Campaigns and Quests related to flight and your entry in to the Abyss. As a reward, you will receive manastones and skills to improve your flight. There are also titles to be had, potions to be drank, and scrolls to be read; all helping you lengthen and improve your flight.

Flight Tips
- Keep an eye on your Flight Meter and flight potions handy to extend flight time.
- If you fly too high our try to leave the flight zone you will hit an invisible wall.
- If you cannot change your altitue using your mouse, check to see if ScrLk (Scroll Lock) is on. ScrLk locks your altitude and can then only be manually adjusted using the R & F keys.

Crafting

Crafting is a process in Aion Online in which useful products are manufactured out of raw materials gathered from monsters of bought from other players. Regardless of players character progression choices, crafting will sooner or later be required to upgrade your gear or help you in Abyss and is an important factor to consider.

Many players only start crafting and leveling tradeskills at later levels since every tries to rush to the level cap as fast as possible, but in my opinion it is a mistake. You should begin gathering materials and slowly leveling your professions as early as level one.

Every Aion player can learn all the crafting professions, to a certain level. Every player can learn all the professional skills to a minimum skill point level of 399, and can master only one of these professions (in an upcoming patch, two).

Crafting Professions

The crafting professions in Aion include the following, with the corresponding products.

- Cooking produces cooked food, using raw food material.
- Sewing produces clothing and leather armor, using plant fiber and leather.
- Armorsmiths produce chain and plate armor, using metal ingots.
- Weaponsmiths produce weapons, using metal ingots.
- Handicraftsmen produce jewellery, bows and staves, using
- Alchemy produces potions, using herbs and plants.

Where to learn crafting skills

In order to learn a crafting skill you will have to visit one or more of the trainers listed below.

Asmodian faction: Temple of Artisans in Pandaemonium

- Alchemy: Honir
- Armorsmithing: Kinterun
- Cooking: Lainita
- Handicrafting: Lanse
- Sewing: Zyakia
- Weaponsmithing: Rogi

Elyos: Artisans' Hall in Sanctum:

- Alchemy: Diana
- Armorsmithing: Vulcanus
- Cooking: Hestia
- Handicrafting: Utsida
- Sewing: Daphnis
- Weaponsmithing: Anteros

Don't forget to also bring some money! You will have to pay to learn crafts:
- Lesser - about 3,500 Kinah
- Regular - about 17,000 Kinah
- Greater - about 115,000 Kinah
- Expert - about 460,000 Kinah
- Master - about 1,500,000 Kinah

The prices are unconfirmed but should be about right. I'll update this when I find out the exact amounts. You're welcome to comment below and clarify.

Alchemy

Alchemy is most useful to Sorcerers and Spiritmasters, since it creates spellbooks and orbs. However, with alchemy you can also create manastones, potions and scrolls which are useful for any class. Being able to craft your own scrolls and potions will save you a ton of kinah.

However, leveling up alchemy also takes a lot of kinah, in addition to inventory space. You will be carrying around a lot of gathered herbs, manastones and other materials. While alchemy is no doubt a very useful profession, you might want to level it up later in the game.

Armorsmithing

Armorsmiths produce exactly what you think, armors and shields. Classes such as Templar and Gladiator will have the most use of Armorsmithing, however it's very useful for Priests as well.

Since there are basically two ways of obtaining the best armor at high levels, killing bosses or rare monsters, Armorsmithing is a great third alternative for making great armor which undoubtedly helps in both PvE and PvP.

The nice thing about AS is you can make excellent gear for your character every 5 levels, so it's not only an endgame profession. The resources it requires are ore, Aether and most of all money. The downside is, you will not be making huge amounts of kinah with Armorsmithing unless you get really lucky and craft more than one item for the same amount of resources (also called a "proc").

Cooking

I hate to cook, but for some reason I find it interesting in games. Cooking is a fun profession which enables you to create all kinds of temporary buffs which increase your character stats. It's definitely useful, but unfortunately it's nothing you can't get from other players or from the auction hall.

Materials for cooking are easy to come by and inexpensive, but you will not be making nearly as much kinah as with some other crafts. It's unfortunate and I suggest you level cooking only for the sake of it. It's not worth your time and money. Hopefully it will improve in the future.

Like alchemy, any class can benefit from cooking.

Handicrafting

Handicrafting produces rings, glasses, staves, bows, earrings and necklaces. This profession is recommended for Rangers and Chanters, but anyone interested in making kinah should consider it.

Handicrafting is definitely the best kinah making profession in game. The "procs" are highly profitable, although rare. If you take HC you won't be spending huge amounts of kinah, but you will spend enormous amounts of time gathering the required materials. Wood is not hard to come by, however gems which are required for jewelry are rare and come in small numbers.

Handicrafting is recommended to anyone who has enough patience for gathering materials and interest in making loads of kinah.

Sewing

Sewing allows players to make cloth and leather armor, as well as belts, hats, and some types of shoes. This is a suggested craftskill for Scouts and Mages.

If sewing is your choice, don't expect to make a lot of kinah. You will be able to make yourself decent armor and occasionally sell one, but for serious money making I suggest looking elsewhere.

Weaponsmithing

Weaponsmithing is used to create melee weapons such as swords, daggers, polearms, maces and spears.

Templars, Gladiators and Assassins will clearly have most use out of this profession and I'd recommend taking it. It works similar to Handicrafting, where the most kinah and best items are made by "procs", so if you don't mind gambling a bit go for it. You can possibly make millions of kinah just for one item which is no doubt a lucrative opportunity for anyone.

PVP System

The end game of Aion revolves around battles within the Abyss (PvP zone). Within the Abyss are fortresses which can be controlled by individual Legions (Aion equivalent of a guild). Battle for control of these castles involves combat against players of the opposing faction and computer controlled NPCs at the same time, using siege weapons obtained from end game PvE raid content. Legions in control of a castle are entitled to funding from taxes and players within the faction get specials from NPCs and discounts for travel and vendor items. The game currently does not allow factions to fight against those of their own race, except for casual duels or practice in the Arena.
The participation in PvP is rewarded with Abyss Points in the game. The game ranks players as battles are won against fellow players based on their participation in the Abyss. At higher ranks the character's wings will change in appearance to show the character's elevated status. Also certain items can be purchased with these points such as high-end armor and weapons. This is referred to as the Abyss Rank system, and there can only be a limited number of high ranking players per server. The highest ranking players compete for the relatively few rank positions available. Abyss points are gained by killing other players in combat, and points are lost by being killed by another player. Higher points are awarded for a kill of a much higher ranked player than for killing an equal or lower ranked player.

Aion Classes

At level 10, you’ll then get to decide on your final Aion class. Every direction offers two choices. As a warrior you’ll have to decide whether you’ll be playing a templar or a gladiator.  Scouts pick between Assassins and Rangers. For Mages the options are Spiritmaster and Sorcerer, while priests get to choose between Priest and Chanter.
In general the class roles seem somewhat similar to what you would find in one of SOE’s MMORPGs: The specialization after playing  a base class for several levels, the distinction between the different options a base class has – even down to the equipment they usually wear.
Starting with the Warrior characters, I’ll take a look at the different Aion classes, allowing new players to make a beter choice:
  • Templars are defensive tanks. If you’re looking to tank in raids, this is the class you want to play. Capable of carrying a shield they offer the highest defensive value, making it a great fit for the traditional meatshield role.
  • Gladiators are more offensive fighters, think fury-specced warriors in WoW. What they lack in defense, they make up in offense. If you’re looking for a tank that also can dish out some damage, you’ll probably be happy with this choice.
  • Assassins are your typical rogue class. Coming from an EQ world, they are rogues, only capable of wearing leather, specializing in daggers and of course counting stealth as their major bonus.
  • Rangers are the other option for scouts. They trade off the element of surprise – stealth – for better armor and more versatility when it comes to using weapons.
  • Spiritmasters can probably be compared the most to Magicians in EQ and Warlocks in WoW. They send their summoned creatures to fight for them and stand back during the action. Only being able to wear cloth armor they are dependent on their summoned creatures and other players to protect them from melee attacks.
  • Sorcerers are your run-of-the-mill, average nukers. Pure range DPS these glass cannons live up to their expectations. Being one of two cloth classes in Aion, they are your main choice for magical range DPS. Like their Spiritmaster counterparts, you have to count on others to protect you from melee attacks.
  • Chanters use their mantras to give strength to their friends. Basically a buff/debuffing class that seeks its equal in lack of popularity. Justifying your place in a group will be a regular occurance since you neither contribute pure DPS nor are able to heal or take damage directly.
  • Clerics are the class that of course everyone picks first in an MMORPG. Not. Of course being the only class that can provide any decent heals at all, you are well of having one of them in your group at all times.
In general, Aion classes are feeling more similar to what you see in EQ than in other games. This isn’t a big surprise, given that NCSoft’s history and huge successes (e.g. Lineage 2), share common roots with other early MMORPGs. For players new to the genre this won’t make much of a difference. Others might need to go through the base classes first before deciding on their final class, less they end up playing one that turns out quite different than what they expected at higher levels.
Aion: The Tower of Eternity , known also as The Tower of AION (タワー オブ アイオン) in Japan is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released by NCsoft, a major Korean game developer. Aion was (up until May 20, 2009)[citation needed] known as "Aion: The Tower of Eternity" but it was released in North America under the one-word title of Aion. The game combines PvP and PvE (a concept the developers call PvPvE) in a fantasy game environment. As of May 20, 2009, Aion has 3.5 million subscribers in Asia. AION's first major expansion was released to North America and Europe on September 7, 2010 under the name AION: Assault on Balaurea.

Gameplay

Character customization

The character creation system allows customization such as adjusting the height, weight and scale of various body parts. Different hair styles, skin colors, facial textures and voices can also be chosen. Further detailing can be found in the selection of eye shape and color, nose shape, ear size and shape and tattoos for the character's face and body.
The game will allow a player to dye their equipment to change its color and to change the graphics of one weapon or armor to that of another that they have in their inventory. This allows a player to display equipment graphics of items which they find visually appealing, while benefiting from the actual stats of different weapons or armors. Players can only change the graphics of a piece of equipment to that of another piece of equipment of the same type.
This adds another layer of customization (as it allows players to control the look of their avatar without sacrificing the better stats of an item that they find visually unappealing) and strategy to the game.

Latest MMORPG

New MMORPG of the Year:
Champions Online
Champions Online is a dream game for both Super Hero fans and casual MMORPGers. Instead of being complex, Champions focuses on players having fun creating their super heroes and then throwing them into an action-packed comic book world. The game's character creator is the best of any MMO today including City of Heroes. Champions has no set classes so players are free to build their super heroes as they see fit. Players can literally spend hours tinkering with the little nuances of their super characters.
Runners-Up:
Aion, Free Realms, Crimecraft, Darkfall

Most Anticipated Game for 2010:
Starcraft 2
For the first time, the winner of Most Anticipated Game is not a MMORPG. Without question, Starcraft 2 is one of the most anticipated PC games ever. The first Starcraft is still extremely popular despite being launched back in 1998. Not many franchises can claim 12 years between games. Most games are largely forgotten by then. Starcraft is not only remembered, but Starcraft 2 is almost guaranteed to be a huge hit. In fact, it is a wonder why Blizzard has not tried World of Starcraft yet.
Runners-Up:
Diablo 3, DC Universe, WoW Cataclysm

Most Innovative Online Game
Darkfall
Darkfall is so innovative because it gives players more freedom than any other major MMORPG. Players in Darkfall can participate in unrestricted PvP and skill-based combat. One of the aspects of unrestricted PVP is that players can fully loot other players that they have killed. Do not expect to ever find that feature in blockbuster games like World of Warcraft and Aion. Other features that are scarce in the genre include a character alignment system, a crafting system where everything is made by players, crafted items with the names of the crafters, a level free skill-based system, and the ability to fight when riding a mount. Simply put, Darkfall allows players to be players.
Runners-Up:
Atlantica Online, Aion, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Best Online Shooter
Cross Fire
Despite heavy competition from many top online shooters, Cross Fire won the first Shooter Showdown. In fact, Cross Fire defeated the Online Shooter of the Year for the past two years (Team Fortress 2) in the finals. A significant amount of Cross Fire's success can be attributed to its innovative Ghost Mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 also deserves a mention as the top runner-up due to its exciting multiplayer mode.
Runners-Up:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Quake Live, Team Fortress 2

Best Retail Online RPG
Borderlands
This category has been very thin in recent years due to most of the premier RPGs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect not having multiplayer elements. Borderlands takes home the honors this year as a hybrid shooter/RPG due to it being the Diablo of shooting games. There has never been quite a shooter that captured the spirit of Diablo as much as Borderlands. Trying to find that next powerful gun sometimes overshadows the game's story and missions. The loot in the game is fun to find and can easily eat away hours if you are not careful.
Runners-Up:
Torchlight, Dragon Age, Mass Effect

Best Free Online Strategy Game

 League of Legends
Who knew that a stand-alone game based on a Warcraft 3 map (Defense of the Ancients) could be so fun? League of Legends or LoL for short is a free multiplayer strategy game with RPG and RTS elements. Players are known as summoners who control Champions and minions. Champions bring the game to life with personality because they come in various sizes and flavors. LoL uses these colorful characters to brighten up a deep and highly replayable game.
Runners-Up:
Battle Forge, Atlantica Online, OGame

Best Free Online RPG
Legends of Zork
Old school PC gamers will likely be familiar with Zork from the 80s and 90s. Legends of Zork is a modern day browser game based on that classic game series. The game also resembles current online RPGs such as Kingdom Loathing and Hobo Wars. Like those games, Legends of Zork is aimed casual gamers with a sense of humor. The game does not take it self seriously and that is a good thing.
Runners-Up:
ZOMG, Rubies of Eventide, Furcadia

 Best PvP MMO
Aion
Aion was billed as the proverbial "WoW Killer" for a number of years. Not only did it look better than World of Warcraft, but it was to have more of an emphasis on PvP and flying combat. Of course, Aion did not turn out to be a "WoW Killer" but it did establish itself as a major pay-to-play MMORPG alternative and a PvP heavyweight.
Runners-Up:
Eve Online, Warhammer Online, Guild Wars, Lineage 2

Best Free MMORPG
Perfect World
Perfect World continues to be a leader in the free-to-play genre with the type of graphics, character customization and content that you would expect to find only in a pay MMORPG. Despite getting beaten in the MMORPG Showdown 4 this year, Perfect World is one of the most popular MMOs in the industry. Don't be surprised to see Perfect World in the awards next year as well.
Runners-Up:
DDO, Runes of Magic, Free Realms, RuneScape

Best Expansion of the Year
Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited
Eberron Unlimited is a special expansion pack because it made DDO free after years as a pay-to-play MMO. This expansion also introduced the DDO store, a higher level cap, the Favored Soul, a new raid, several new quests, and many other changes to numerous to list here. That said, Eberron Unlimited signaled a turning point for DDO. This game is now viewed as one of the Top Free MMORPGs in terms of quality.
Runners-Up:
Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood, Perfect World: Rising Tide
Reader's Choice for Online Game of the Year
Quake Live
The introduction of Quake Live in 2009 marked the birth of the Social Shooter. Quake Live is not only a free browser-based version of Quake III Arena, but it is also built similar to a social network. You can track your friends easily when playing and not playing the game. This is one of the biggest reasons why Quake Live was to come out on top of over 50 other games including Perfect World in a three-month long poll event in our forums.
Runners-Up:
Perfect World, Splashfighters, Ogame

Best MMORPG
RuneScape
Despite still having its critics, RuneScape continues to be a MMO leader. RuneScape surprised everybody once again by winning the MMORPG Showdown for the second year in a row. This year, RuneScape beat World of Warcraft in the finals to win this annual GameOgre.com event. Community and depth along with the fact that the game can be played for free were the major reasons why RuneScape prevailed again. As the free MMORPGs continue to evolve, RuneScape has quite a knack for staying one of the giants of online gaming.
Runners-Up:
World of Warcraft, Aion, Free Realms, Perfect World

GameOgre.com's Online Game Of The Year For 2009
Free Realms
Whether you call it a virtual world or a free MMORPG, there is no denying that Free Realms made a huge impact in 2009. The game was just launched on April 29, 2009, but it has already garnered over 8 million registered users to date. Unlike most free MMORPGs, combat is completely optional in Free Realms. Players can raise pets, explore, participate in mini-games or social network with friends instead. The end result is a casual juggernaut that continues to grow in huge spurts. World of Warcraft, the usual winner of this award, was in limbo for the much of the year waiting on the world-changing Cataclysm expansion pack. Can Free Realms continue its momentum or will WoW win the award again in 2010?
Runners-Up:
RuneScape, World of Warcraft, Eve Online, Guild Wars, Perfect World

Online Advertisement

Online advertising is a form of promotion that uses the Internet and World Wide Web for the expressed purpose of delivering marketing messages to attract customers. Examples of online advertising include contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads, Rich Media Ads, Social network advertising, interstitial ads, online classified advertising, advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail spam.

The term online advertising is simply a term that relates to advertising over the Internet. In practice if you can find the best terms and phrases that people search for who are interested in your goods and services that is what online advertising is all about. Once you have done that online advertising works best if the pages that these people go to have action areas highlighted so that your visitors know exactly how to purchase the products or services that you are offering. Simple isn't it? Of course at all times your website should be all about helping your prospective customers find what they are looking for, so put yourself in their shoes when you look at your site and imagine if you have met their desires. If you make your site easy to navigate and full of exactly what your prospective customers want then, and only then, will they buy from you. Remember in online advertising less is more.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increase the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines whether it is natural or organic search results. The acronym "SEO" can refer to "search engine optimizers," a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site and site content, SEO tactics may be incorporated into website development and design. The term "search engine friendly" may be used to describe website designs, menus, content management systems, images, videos, shopping carts, and other elements that have been optimized for the purpose of search engine exposure. SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.

Touuch Screen Gadgets

The iPhone 4 will also sport what Jobs described as a “retina display” with four times the pixel density of a typical LCD display at a whopping 326 pixels per inch—by far denser than anything else in the consumer electronics market. The result is a 3.5-inch display with a native resolution of 960 by 640 pixels that is actually a higher resolution than the typical human eye is capable of perceiving, when held at a distance of just 10 to 12 inches. Jobs claims the iPhone 4’s display winds up looking like a high quality printed book (albeit that emits light!) rather than a blocky pixellated grid. The iPhone OS automatically handles rendering text and controls at the higher resolution for the iPhone 4, so developers don’t need to do anything to update their applications to look good on the new display…but, of course, if developers want to add higher-resolution graphics to their apps, they will look stunning on the iPhone 4.

The iPad is a tablet computer designed, developed and marketed by Apple primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, and web content. At about 1.5 pounds (680 grams), its size and weight fall between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers. Apple released the iPad in April 2010, and sold 3 million of the devices in 80 days.
According to a report released by Strategy Analytics, the Apple iPad had gained a 95 percent share of Tablet PC sales at the end of second quarter 2010. During the second quarter 2010, Apple had sold 4.19 million iPads around the world.

The iPad runs the same operating system as the iPod Touch and iPhone—and can run its own applications as well as iPhone applications. Without modification, it will only run programs approved by Apple and distributed via its online store.
Like iPhone and iPod Touch, the iPad is controlled by a multitouch display—a departure from most previous tablet computers, which used a pressure-triggered stylus—as well as a virtual onscreen keyboard in lieu of a physical keyboard. The iPad uses a Wi-Fi data connection to browse the Internet, load and stream media, and install software. Some models also have a 3G wireless data connection which can connect to HSPA data networks. The device is managed and synced by iTunes on a personal computer via USB cable.
